On Friday, May 10, 1996, Leon Laureles drove to his midnight shift at Kroger's 5 miles from his home in Brownwood, TX.
Leon never arrived.
Just after midnight, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a car fire on the side of the road. Responders found Leon's body in front of his 1988 Thunderbird, shot in the back of the head.
Leon's murderer(s) have never been caught.
We will meet at the Brownwood Housing Authority at 10am on Saturday, 16 Mar for a half-mile walk to the Sheriff's Department. The central Texas community wants to show its support for the victims of violent crime and their families, and we demand accountability for investigations that have yielded no answers. Our purpose is to build networks with other families and advocates in the area and to bring awareness to the numerous cases that sit unsolved. Meeting location: Brownwood Housing Authority, 1500 Terrace Dr, Brownwood, TX 76801. Sponsored by the family of Leon Laureles. https://www.facebook.com/share/eMMJJ2jVEx565ccv/?mibextid=9l3rBW
